Some of This N That.... what I've Been Up To

Haven't written a post in what seems like forever ... 'bout time I chimed and and said what I was up to this last month..... I've been doing a little pattern writing (translation: very LiTtLe) but mostly I've just been bumming about the house wishin' and hopin' on a spring that seems to never wanna come. This was the view out my front door this morning.... somewhere to the left is my driveway and legend tells it there's an AcTuAL road? out front there somewhere. It was snowing again today....

I've had days with the kids watching movies *Frozen, hands down the best movie EveR!!!!!* and making cookies. We did make a great Play Dough recipe that kicked but all over real Play Dough.... you really should try it if you have any wee ones about... or even just to play with when its just been one of those days :) Who could help but smile when seeing one of these colorful balls of endless possibility?

and we made cookies.....

lots n lots of cookies.

On the yarn front I have some fun to show.....

I turned my first heel I was really happy and super comfortable with. The pattern comes from the book from Wendy Knits: here. It was fun and I'm currently working on the second, my attention is like a bee at the flower though... a lil sweet here, a lil sweet there never touching down long. This is both good and bad, Im entertained and can honestly say Im rarely bored since Im always doing something new, but the flip side is that I have a million and one W.I.P.s *works in progress*...

Hummmm.... I also made this wee lil dress I really like and am currently writing the pattern for.... almost makes me wish I had another baby.... then again lets just rephrase that.... makes me wish I had a wee lil baby to dress up for a minute :P

and there was this lil jacket *still waiting for buttons* my own pattern as well.

I started this in fingering weight Chroma yarn from Knit Picks on a size E hook......

Which became this....... free pattern here.

And another became an infinity scarf.....

Then I decided to give myself a challenge to grow and cultivate a good sense of color. Theres a sight called Design Seeds and its fab if you ever want to be inspired. Here is day 1 of my personal challenge.

This lil bit of goodness showed up today. More Chroma, some St. Pattys Day sale sock yarn, some needles and you see that in the back there? Thats my new hobby. Thats bare yarn, un dyed. A fingering merino/silk blend and its delish to the touch. So today I began my adventure in hand painted yarns......

It went a lil something like this.........

And this........

And like this toooooo...

But after all that a bit of magic happened.

and it went like.......

                                                                THIS <3

I have without a doubt found a new life long hobby and passion. I encourage any of you who are interested to give hand dyed yarns a try.... so much fun. Farmers nail down your sheep.... Im gonna be wool crazy for the foreseeable future :)
