I really adore Knit Picks Chroma Yarns and have been searching for something similar that might be purchased in stores and more accessible (and more cost efficient) for all yarn lovers on every budget. The other day I ws doing my weekly shopping at our local Walmart (by local I mean 50 miles away, one way :))))) ahhhhhh life in the big woods of northern Minnesota ) and although I rarely buy my yarns there, I always take a peek. Wow am I ever glad I did! I found Red Hearts Unforgettable Yarn and its darn tootin near my Chroma! For considerably less money and its acrylic for easier care. If your local Walmart doesnt carry it remember you can go to the website and order it and have it shipped to home for free with orders over $50 or pay for it in your online cart and free pick up at your local store
I didnt know what I was going to make with it but I bought 3 skeins ….. and after looking at it and drooling over the colorways for a couple of days, this hat was born! I call it The Unforgettable Hat (obviously for the yarn name but ooooohhhhh the colors are definitely unforgettable!) This hat can be a beanie style, short slouch or full slouch. It has and extra wide band and the stitch is a variation on the arch stitch….. hope you enjoy
Please come join me and all the other wonderful craftastic artists over at our facebook group Crochet Supernova …. its not just full of yarnie goodness but a place for ALL kinds of arts and crafts

This is so beautiful! I am going to start one of this this evening for my Daughter-In-Law. She's supposed to be here Aug. 21st and there's many things I want to make for her and this will be the first of many to come. Thanks for the pattern, I'm terrible at reading patterns but I have to give this a shot because I love it so much. I wish you had a video tutorial on it because it's so much easier for me than written, but I believe I can do this!
ReplyDeleteI made this hat out of some almost fluorescent multi-color yarn I got on sale. I kind of "winged it" when I got to switching rows for the main pattern repeat, but it still came out looking nice. I should have used a bigger hook for this yarn for the main pattern though, because it came out pretty firm, and it looks like a multi-color fluorescent flowerpot on my head, however for walking the dog on these dark nights--that's perfect :-)

Hi, what number/name does the color of the yarn have that you used for the hat? I love the colors, but can't seem to find it...

ReplyDeleteThank you for such a great post you wrote here and I'm very obliged to write an article here on the benefit of herbal herbs.I am 29 years old and have been diagnosed with breast cancer, ease of treatment and a similar story, except for my first acceptance as a rejection of herbal medicine. I was not part of the Perseid movement and did not really build relationships with any of them, I just believed in their operation.
